On early syndicated runs of Batfink, this logo had different music. It was not that of the scary Eric Siday jingle but rather a conventional, 7-note horn-driven tune.

The long version of the "S from Hell" with the 8-note music was used from 1965-1970.

The reason the music is choppy is because when Eric Siday and Van Alexander were recording the song for this bumper, they were enclosed in a tiny room were soundwaves would echo all over the room.

This had to have been affiliated with a company.

I just couldn't handle the music when I was a kid. I practically had to cover my ears so that I couldn't hear it. The sound of the S from Hell really put me off when I was little.
It still kind of creeps me out even now and believe me it doesn't take very much to scare the shit out of me.

Heeeeeeeeeeelp, it's the S from hell! :P But seriously folks, I didn't find it that scary when I first saw it, just really dated due to the way those last chords were instrumented.

Kevin O'Shea: I don't know son, I don't have a sundial. Now get back in line.
