R and B made so many awesome shows, virtually all the animated Christmas specials and my favorite of all, The Hobbit!

That Rankin-Bass Productions logo was taken from Santa Claus Is Coming To Town from F.H.E.

Excuse me? I wasn't critizing anything. That comment was far from being critical.
Geeze can't I have an opinion about something on here without getting my head cut off and have someone thinking that I'm nothing more than a trashy critic who sits here pissing and moaning about how bad the quality of about 10 seconds of video is?
I said that it was good to see the video on here meaning that even though the quality of the video isn't very good I still liked it.
    jaw970 Posted 10 years 9 months ago
Celeste, why do you feel it necessary to critisize someone else's efforts? Don't you think that the person that uploaded this clip already knows that the video isn't the best? I don't see you posting any stellar quality clips.

*sniff* the memowies are too stwong!

I noticed no one here mentioned the fact that this was the same animation studio that, along with all those beloved holiday specials and the "Thundercats" series, also produced the Jackson 5 AND Osmonds cartoon series (well, that was before your time anyway, kids; ask your folks, they'll remember). They also produced an animated series featuring a really cheapjack anime version of King Kong in the late 60's which had a companion feature called "Tom of T.H.U.M.B.".

Not the best quality video I ever saw but it's still nice to see.
Does anyone have the other Rankin Bass logo that doesn't have the TV-like blue in the background?
Jack Bauer Posted 11 years 2 months ago
Ahhhhh the memories. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer always had this logo back in the day.

Warner Bros. has all of Rankin/Bass' 1980s stuff. They acquired Lorimar Telepictures sometime in the late 1980s.
Celeste Posted 11 years 3 months ago
Did Lorimar take over Rankin Bass? I have the Thundercats on DVD and at the end it says "Rankin Bass Animated Entertainment for Lorimar Telepictures" so I wondered what happened?
    MegtheEgg86 Posted 11 years 3 months ago
I remember another version of this; the logo was on a simple cream background instead of on that white box shape in front of the blue background. I believe the music remained the same, however. Perhaps it was one of the more recent versions, because if I'm not mistaken this was the one the company used until around '73 or '74.
carsonmax Posted 11 years 4 months ago
Oh my god. I totally forgot about this one.
ChowTimer Posted 11 years 4 months ago
I have some old rinkin bass videos, so i can see it anytime i want to. and I read an article that saud people were scared of the logo.
Demache Posted 11 years 8 months ago
you need flash player to play teh video. duh...
ooliyo Posted 11 years 9 months ago
Most folks only recognize Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass for their christmas movies, but they the went into animation for such films like The Hobbit and all the other Lord OfThe Rings animated films, and they created Thundercats.
    bryon395 Posted 11 years 9 months ago
I can't play that stupid .flv file I remember the logo though..it played at the end of the puppet Christmas shows (Rudolph, etc.)
shiroihikari Posted 11 years 10 months ago
I remember this, but I was always afraid of it as a kid. Now I just think the music is obnoxious.
    rksexy2finger Posted 11 years 10 months ago
Yeah it does remind me of christmas because it is on a couple of christmas videos I own.
