This was Channel 9's last well known station ID as an independent station, before it became an affiliate of the UPN network. The day UPN and the WB went on the air was the day that independent television as we knew it died (but it was a slow and agonizing death; even though the WB and UPN affiliates were obligated to present their respective networks programming at the network's proper airtime or at a time of the affiliates' discretionary choosing, each affiliate maintained their independent status around each of the networks limited schedules).
