Okay, first of all, none of the stuff mentioned below happened to our childhood! Our generation was better, the new one sucks.

Where to start? Oh yes, with the removal of Tom and Jerry, I have declared that Cartoon Network is nothing. And not only that, they're failing more!

To the shows, I have no respect for. Also, Cartoon Network calls these Cartoon Network Originals! WTF?!!! Originals?!! Wanna know what's original?! The Cartoon Cartoons you bastards!!!

First up is My Gym Partner's A Monkey, the worst show ever made on Cartoon Network. It makes too many ass jokes and almost everything refers to his ass, and nobody seems to care but laugh. God damn, nobody in our generation have watched this piece of crap! Moving on...

Second, Squirrel Boy is awful too, only it copies off CatDog and nothing else. It's rarely shown on Cartoon Network, at least it's better than MGPAM! I don't know what's the point of this show, but it's probably shown that CN is having aids I assume. Oh well, never mind this dirty crap. Let's keep going...

Third, Camp Lazlo is more like SpongeBob only it's on a campground and it is worse than SpongeBob Squarepants. I watched it a few times, it was horrible. Frankly, a cartoon of this piece of shit was shown at a theater when I saw Ratutooie (Or whatever it is). I don't call this for hilarious crap, which it isn't. Coming up next...

Fourth, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. It was innocent at first, but then it started going downhill very quickly unexpectedly. Out of nowhere came Goo Goo and that pointed out that the show was failing. Let's go forward...

Fifth, we have Ben 10. And god is it horrible! This points out that kids are rulers, really? No! This idiot doesn't know shit about kicking ass! His sister was right! Ben is an asshole! For some weird reason, everyone seems to like this show when it sucks.

Now if that wasn't enough, the movies are awful too! Cartoon Network airs movies on occasion (Normally on weekends). Most of these are garbage while Shrek and School of Rock which Cartoon Network plans to never air again (Son of a 1000 bitches!!!) and the garbage is always the movies. Lili Griffin, help us all!

Cartoon Network Extra just shows shorts that are from the originals that nobody likes. There's not much to say about these too.

The majority of the commercials are terrible and more common nowadays. I'm meaning like rub n' color, kidz bop, and most of these are Bamzu! GOD DAMMIT SHUT THE F*CK UP BAMZU!!!!!!

Now that I think of it, Cartoon Network's hit rock bottom. I can't stand it anymore! I am not going to watch this piece of shit anymore. So, do not watch CN anymore and don't touch it! Bye!

I have to agree with you guys that TV has gotten worse and I only care of watching a few shows on TV mainly the news, Dr.OZ, educational shows on KCTS and KBTC our PBS channels and as well I do wish for better cartoons but the only way I believe that better cartoons to be put on TV is our generation being inspired by the shows we loved and at the same time by learning what the younger generation likes and last but not least try not making the shows lame so that they don't flail like a fish out of water so it doesn't become a major failure and yes I rather be collecting films then watching most of the channels as lot of these shows are now considered crap.

Espcially reality TV shows that act like documentaries but are mainly to entertain you not to educate you!

But if you believe in yourselves and have the skills of an artist maybe just maybe you can change how TV is done today now go and give it your best shot guys and girls!

COMPLETELY agree with your assessment of Cartoon Network selecting dimwitted cartoons. I think it is time for some animators with the same conscientious objections to current programming to step up and produce something of better quality.

The constant commercials for upcoming cartoon shows is sooo annoying!! (It's like the annoying little brother who won't stop poking you on your cross country road trip.)

Current cartoon programming is not for children, even the children's shows teach kids the point of view of the angst ridden sexually frustrated teenage geeky cartoonist. (for example, 'Regular Show', which is extremely stupid ) I also detest the Amazing world of Gum Ball.

The more limits there are on content, the more creative artists must be to express their ideas. I think it's time for people to demand a crudity ban.

I was around for shows like tom and jerry. but i dont remember alot of the old shows to well cuz i was only like 5.
But i actual thought some of the shows you commented about were kind of good.(execpt) that squirrel boy show.

And I just realized that this is an ancient thread, but I came across it from a Google search, and I had such a strong desire to comment on this that I made an account almost purely to comment.

I admit that I loved the Cartoon Cartoons a lot more than the stuff being aired now. But if they kept showing the same stuff for decades then almost everyone would be bored to death of it and beg CN to add new stuff. And how do they make room for new stuff? By taking out some of the old stuff.

I think TDI/TDA is ok, it has it's funny moments. I also think that Chowder and Flapjack are funny, although I think all three shows shows don't have enough new episodes to keep interest.

I don't like how they're adding more non cartoon stuff to the channel. And even Adult Swim is going downhill. There's some shows that try to be funny, but fail. I miss when they had anime almost every single night. Now the only time they show any anime is during saturday nights, and I think they even cut back from that slot a bit.

They need to bring back Cartoon Cartoons, even if it's for a shorter amount of time, or different shows. That was the heart and soul of CN, along with the classics like Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Popeye, etc.

Am I the only one who thought the Cartoon Cartoons sucked? They are the reason why Cartoon Network is the way it is today. I remember the days when Cartoon Network first came out and watched it all day long. The Flintstones, Top Cat, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and a whole bunch of other good shows. Too bad kids born in the 90s only think that Cartoon Network's golden years was 1998-2004. I say Cartoon Network sucked since the late 90s.

Cartoon Network does suck some balls cuz i remember vividly CN showing Action cartoons in the afternoons like DBZ, Ronin Warriors, TMNT, Dragonball, Dragonball GT, Beast Wars, Transformers Cybertron, Transformers Energon, Swat Kats Etc. What i'm tryin to say is not a one fuckin action cartoon is worth a damn anymore i mean WTF is Bagugan or however u spell it and WTF happened to the transformers now they got Transformers Animated WTF this is bullshit. Please bring back Toonami and that other action slot CN used to have after Toonami got cancelled or somethin.

This article is total BS. I don't even know why it isn't in the back pages already. There is no explaination on why CN sucks so much now. It's just this show sucks, that show sucks. There isn't even pictures on this article either. Stop crying already. Guess what, the kids of today LIKE the shows on CN now. This is their childhood now, not ours. You just grew up and watching cartoons may not be the same anymore for you. I have not seen one postive comment about the network at all. It's just "CN is gay now!", "Bring back the old shows" and "Adult Swim is the only good thing about CN now". If you all hate CN now, watch Boomerang! It has most of the same stuff that was on CN in the late 1990's and early 2000's (even though it's too early to be playing stuff like Justice League and Baby Looney Tunes).

PS: We aren't in the same generation. Our generation isn't really too much different from today's generations. In fact, there are no such things as "A perfect generation". Get over it and move on.

I was liking this article. Squirrel Boy is okay. But Foster's did start getting worse (so many intentionally annoying characters), and Lazlo does suck. BUT, anyone who insults Ben 10 doesn't know an AMAZING cartoon when he sees one. So, sorry but the whole article is shot to heck now. Besides, they still air Billy and Mandy.

I agree with this article. Most of the cartoons you listed are unwatchable. Cartoon Network is definitely going down the tube. They air live action shows with some animation (that does not count!) and live action movies without animation.

Like CheezNapkin said just screw Cartoon Network and switch to Boomerang, it not only has all of those old Hanna-Barbera cartoons, it has those old 90's cartoons that we loved so much, like Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken, even the freaking What a Cartoon show! The only remaining good show on CN is Ed, Edd, n' Eddy which has more quality than any of the other shows now on CN.

Personally, I think Ren and Stimpy marked the fall of animation as we knew it. Everything got dumbed down. Sillyness, slapstick, and a fascination with bodily fluids replaced story. So sad. Thank God shows like Justice League were there for some of us to turn too.

Yes, thank you for this article! I agree with you whole heartedly on this. They seem to be doing nothing more than killing off the good shows, and promoting weak cheesy garbage.

I wished they would bring back the good shows like Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Lab, Power Girls and Courage. Fosters Home was great as a movie, but the series began to seriously suck when they stuck to the old standbys, like toilet humor.

And the stories are no longer great either. They seemed to have run out of ideas on this one. And to make the channel even better, they need to bring back Toonami on weekdays.

To me, Cartoon Network really isn't that different than it was 5 years ago. So they cancelled a few shows and premiered a few new ones, so what? It's not really that bad, we aren't kids anymore, and to us, cartoons aren't as good as they used to be. When people grow older they think everything was better "back in the day" when in reality things haven't changed much.

You know, "Foster's" & "Ben 10" really great shows. I'm 19 years old and yet here I am, watching these two animated series. My advice to Cartoon Network is to merge their network with Boomerang, their other network. So, that way, all the cartoon fans across America and around the world can be happy and enjoy classic cartoons and FULLY animated movie classics.

yea,the thing i miss in disney channel is when i was little at night,there was a show that shows classic old cartoons like mickey mouse,and other classics.i forgot what zoog disney was.

But then as far as Adult Swim goes, I mostly watch it for Futurama, Family Guy, and most of the animes like Inuyasha or that new one called Bleach. But their original shows aren't any better than the kids stuff. In fact, I think it's even worse. Hell some of the shows aren't even cartoons at all like Saul of the Mole Men or Tim and Eric awesome show, though I wouldn't use the word awesome. Suck ass would be more like it.

I have to agree too. The only reason I watch it now is for Adult Swim, or the occasional airing of classic episodes or movies of Pokemon.

Anyway, I concur, everything that has come out on Cartoon Network over the last couple months or so has been total crap, starting with Foster, which was pretty good off the start but like the other dude said, just got really annoying after a while.

And though I think it should have ended with the movie I don't think that Spongebob was bad, in complete contrast, I thought it was one of the most original shows on Nick (behind of course all of the greats in the 90's.) And what's all this about Danny Phantom being good? I never liked Danny Phantom, in my opinion it sucked major ass! It was pretty original I'll give it that, but it was done all wrong and by the wrong people, it should have been done by the people who did Batman in the early 90's and they should have made it into an action drama of sorts (just not as serious as Batman.) BTW whatever happened to Toonami on CN?

Shows like: Thor, Birdman, The Trio, He-Man, She-Ra, and so many more great classics that I can't really think of at the moment. Now, the only time I even turn to that station is to watch Adult Swim. I`m sorry but i have to disagree with you all to some
degree here, I`ll admit upfront that i`m not happy with
how CN is being ran at the moment, but i think some of
you are being too quick in your judgment here.

Ben 10 happens to be one of the better shows that is
on cartoon network right now, and one of the best to be
created in a long time. It has originality that has been sorely missed in a lot of shows that are out these days. The voice acting is good in my opinion, and the storyline is entertaining.

I`ll agree also that my gym partner is a monkey and
fosters home for imaginary friends are horrible shows.
Though Foster`s could have been good if not for Bloo,
i hate that character so much, mostly because of his
ego and his damn voice.

MGPAM fails because of the aforementioned jokes, but
also it just isn't very well thought out. The stories
are lame, the jokes are even lamer, and Jake reminds me
too much of Bloo.

It seems that a horrible trend has been floating around
the cartoon community as of late, good shows are being
either canceled or moved. What happened with meguzi?
since summer started, it`s been replaced with mini
marathons on a weekly basis. Also what was Nickelodeon
thinking when they canceled Danny Phantom? Albeit Nick
has done this a lot in the past, its no surprise that
they canned something that was actually worth keeping.

Sure, CN has issues (whether it is "having AIDS" is something I've never contemplated), but, given that I am 35, I can't say I watch a whole lot of new cartoons intended for kids. I can only assume that kids nowadays like the overly-intense colors, the frenetic animation style, the trite plots. I sure don't. Makes my eyes hurt.

I watched Foster's and I thought it was pointless. Not sure who it appeals to. If it's not Bugs Bunny or Tom and Jerry, I pretty much skip it.

Love Boomerang, and all the obscure 4-episode Hanna Barbera stuff. (Mightor and Moby Dick? Shazzan? Classically, hysterically bad!)

Ok! I see what your saying... You miss the classics! But first off, you cant keep all the same shows on ALL the time! in like 10, 20 years from now people will be complaining about the new stuff and missing Foster's and Gym Partner's A Monkey and stuff!

Also, 3 of those shows (Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, Squirell Boy, Camp lazlo) are from the same creators as some of our favorite classics!

Although I agree with some of the things you've said (squirell boy...), cartoon network isn't as bad as you say it is. I mean, look at Nick... nick has a lot of worse shows then CN does. And plus this generation LIKES that kind of stuff, just like our parents liked a lot of old shows we might care less for. And plus I enjoy a few shows on CN like camp lazlo and fosters.

Well.. Yeah, I agree Cartoon Network has just been going down hill, I've been noticing it for along time.. Its sad really.
But then again... kids like the oddest things, I know if I were to watch the things I use to watch for the first time now, I would be ranting and raving just like this..(not everything, just some things)
But really I think nostalgia set in and no matter how crappy it was, it makes it seem like a fond memory.

I'm more upset that the movies are live-action rather than their quality. You mentioned "Cartoon Network Extra" and how they "just shows shorts that are from the originals that nobody likes." You seem to be forgetting about Toon Extra which is the same thing. I like Toon Extras. Now on to commercials. Why are you so worried about commercials? Kids are into rub n' color, kidz bop, and Bamzu has stuff from Turner programming *hint hint*. Last but not least, you told people to stop watching, why, just because you did?

I think CN is doing okay, not great. They just need more variety. Maybe a block for classic cartoons like they used to before 2004. Even if it's just once a week, they need some classic cartoons if they dare to keep the name *Cartoon* Network. And release the old Cartoon Cartoon shows on season DVD sets. Then it'll be fine.

pft. Cartoon network is fine. Before Dbx all they ever showed was the old stuff the boomerang channel shows today. Db was a great boon for the network.
But its still doing fine. All they really need is another really great series to import.
And dont even tell me that naruto or bleech. Both are dbz rip offs.

why is EVERYBODY making an article about why cartoon network sucks, or how cartoon network used to be good. WE grew up on shows like Johnny Bravo and Dexter's Lab. Key words, GREW UP. Just because they arent the shows you watched as a kid doesnt mean they suck. If Ben 10's on it's 4th season (estimate, i've never seen the show but I think it's around there by now) then the show doesn't suck, people watch it. Grow the hell up and grow some balls everyone. The world changes.

Cartoon Network is dead to me. Has been ever since it switched to digital transceiver only. That, and because of the crappy cartoons mentioned. I'd still watch Adult Swim though, but just the good shows of that.

Why are they playing 1990s cartoons on Boomerang? It's way too early for that. They shall go back to the way they was when they first started nothing but CLASSIC cartoons, not cartoons that are 10-15 years old and younger. Cartoon Network itself has sucked for the last 7-8 years. Lack of variety, plays the same shows over and over again until people get tired of them.

Yes, yes, yes!! Amen! I have been waiting to find someone who actually agrees with me! And I have! The sh*t they play now needs to be removed and replaced with the generation that we lived in. And for God's sake, change Toonami back to the way it was! Whatever happened to Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, DragonBall Z, Gundam Wing, Thundercats, and all of our favorites?! I mean, some of the shows that they play now on Toonami are okay, like Naruto. But come on! I actually feel sorry for this generation of children. They shouldn't have to deal with this crap. All of the aformentioned cartoons totally suck.Foster's is funny sometimes.That Blue is a total "Dick".Maybe,thats why I like it.Even "Boomerang",is starting to suck.They don't show the old school 'toons that they used to show.

When I grow up, or on November 11, 2010, at 11 AM, I shall do away with the problems that make Cartoon Network corrupt and arrogant and those that might almost destroy the network in the future. Turner Broadcasting, Time Warner and I will viddie what to do, what you folks want them to do and that will be what Time Warner, Turner Broadcasting and I will do ourselves in....to make Cartoon Network repent (which means to change because they're sorry) for what they have done now.....to Bring back your Cartoon Network Generation....to do away with the newest Cartoon Network generation...one moment of change perhaps, and then Cartoon Network will be feeling better again. My own company, The Tim Box Company will also co-own Cartoon Network and will keep it free of the new CN genration. My Company's Home Video Division, Tim Box Home Entertainment, and also Warner Home Video and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, among others, will also hold the domestic and worldwide home video and DVD rights to all of Cartoon Network's content. When I will save Cartoon Network when I grow up, on November 11, 2010 at 11 o'clock AM, The Generation of Cartoon Network that you will prefer over the new one (which is incredibly sub-par), will return if I or anybody else do so. That's what we, Time Warner, and Turner Broadcasting shall do to save CARTOON NETWORK and its core viewership from the brink of disaster in the darkest hour of the history of Cartoon Network. Oh. My. God. I canNOT stand any of the shows you mentioned, and the Bamzu spots are as annoying as hell..you were spot-on with this article. Worst thing is, the Bamzu crap doesn't end with the childrens' programming, it continues through the Adult Swim programming block too. I miss when Cartoon Network had better shows such as the Cartoon Cartoons. Out of them all..I'd say MGPAM is the worst of the lot, but I haven't bothered to watch Ben 10. Foster's ties with MGPAM, actually.
