Hello everybody and welcome to the first installment of Art. In this series I look at the graphical changes in Video Games. And that's pretty much it. So, for the first series we are going to be looking at one of my favorite series, The Legend Of Zelda. We've seen the Zelda series go from 8 bit NES, to the beautiful landscapes of Breath Of The Wild on the Switch. The fist Zelda didn't have groundbreaking graphics compared to today's standards but the oe thing that mattered was game play, and the first Zelda totally delivers. The critically confused Zelda 2 had more of a side scroller look to it and looked slightly better than the first. When the SNES was being released, Nintendo was thinking of naming a link to the past Zelda 3 and initially on the NES. But thank golden goddess we got A Link to the Past on SNES. Not only did we get the SNES version but we also got a re release on GBA! After the success of A Link to the Past, we wouldn't see another Zelda game until a little game known as Ocarina of Time would hit the N64 in 1998. Not only being the first 3D Zelda but also being one of the most influential games of all time. After Ocarina, we would see one of my favorites Majora's Mask in 2000 which had the same engine as Ocarina so we wont get into that. But both OOT and MM would get 3DS releases which improve on the originals. At Spaceworld 2000, Nintendo would show a GameCube demo of Link fighting Ganon.
This Demo would turn into Twilight Princess a few years later but after that demo another one of my favorites would be released. The Wind Waker. The Wind Waker was released in 2003 for the GameCube and would have a cartoon art style. But Wind Waker (along with Twilight Princess) would receive a Wii U HD remake There would be Minish Cap and Four swords after WW (edit; I decided to leave four swords adventures out as well oops:) but we are gonna focus on main consoles (and, yes I know I missed out on the oracle games and Link's Awakening but again, console titles. maybe a handheld pt.2?)So after the success of WW, in 2006 the world would get Twilight Princess on the Wii and GameCube (and of course) the Wii U release. We would see some Zelda Games on the DS but then Skyward Sword would grace the world in 2011. Looking more vibrant than the dark Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword had funky motion controls but was a enjoyable game. Now, I did say that the handheld games wouldn't be mentioned but I have too. In 2013, A Link between Worlds was released for the 3DS.It was like a remaster of A Link to the Past (somewhat). Then in 2017, we would see The legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild. This game still looks AMAZING a year later. It is more open world than previous titles but it's still a good game. Breath of the wild took Zelda into a new perspective. And that is all folks! I am NK44, and i'll see you soon.
