HEY ARNOLD!

This show was my favorite show to watch on Nickelodeon! There weren’t many cartoons that my whole family would watch together, but Hey Arnold! was one of them. Today I’m going to talk about my favorite episodes of this great late 90s to early 2000s cartoon.

#1 Downtown As Fruits (season 1, episode 1)

Arnold and Gerald are in a school play about the food groups. Helga is the director and is bossing everyone around as usual and making the play miserable. On the night of the play Arnold and Gerald decide to skip the play and go downtown. To make a long story short, Arnold and Gerald get into trouble with thugs. At the end of the story they decide to do the right thing and go back to save the show.

#2 Arnold's Christmas ( season 1, episode 11)

Arnold tries to find Mr. Hyunh's daughter (who was separated from him during the final days of the Vietnam War) as he carries out his duty as Mr. Hyunh's secret Santa. Meanwhile, Helga must choose between a Christmas present for herself and the perfect gift for Arnold. If you like Christmas specials as much as I do I would recommend this one.

#3 Arnold's Halloween (season 2, episode 32)
This episode is a parody of the panic caused by Orson Welles' adaptation of The War of the Worlds. The whole city mistakes a Halloween prank set up by Arnold and Gerald as an actual alien invasion.

#4 Harold the Butcher (season 3, episode 1)

As punishment for shoplifting a ham, Harold is forced to work for Mr. Green at his butcher shop. Later, after his work shift to pay for it is over, he soon learns that he actually likes his new after school job and doesn't want to stop working there, much to the dismay of Mr. Green at least at first.

#5 Big Gino (season 4, episode 2)

After Sid works off a debt with loan shark Big Gino, the two become friends, but when Sid is told to give Arnold a swirlie, he has to choose between the two. This episode was always cool because it had a “Godfather” theme.

#6 Arnold visits Arnie (season 5, episode 12)
This episode is far from the best, but I picked it because it scared the shit out of me when I was young. Let me give you a synopsis of the episode. Arnold arrives in a small farm town where his creepy obsessive compulsive cousin Arnie lives. Arnie collects lint balls and counts random things (like how many berries are on a bush or how many gumballs are in a gumball machine). Anyway, everyone in this weird town resembles all of Arnold’s friends back home except some of their personalities are switched. At the end Arnie and the rest of his inbred friends try to attack Arnold for some reason I can’t remember. Arnold wakes up and finds that he was just in some messed up dream.

Thanks for watching!
