My time at Nickelodeon Studios

This is a descrpition of my personal experience visiting Nick Studios

Hi. My name is Kelly, and I would like to share with you some of my great memories of Nickelodeon Studios.
During my junior year in high school, I got to visit Nick studios. Unfortunately I never got to take the tour because as soon as my family got in line, I was asked to be an extra in a show that was taping that day.
That show was Welcome Freshmen. I was taken right away to wardrobe where I was dressed in a P.E. uniform. The show was about self defense, and I was shown in the girls' gym class scene with the female Coach Roach--Coach Rochelle. There were many takes including a scene where the principal was supposed to burst into the gym. By the time all the filming was done, it was night (hence the quality of the one photo). I did get to go to Game Lab with my younger sister. I am sitting in the back row.

I remember that being an extra solidified my desire to NOT go into acting. I did get to see the show's stars up close though, and I was grateful to have an experience not a lot of others got to have. When the episode aired, I noticed that I did in fact get a good ammount of face time in the scene. Sadly though, I tried to find it on YouTube, but no one has uploaded it.
You might notice also the the Game Lab wall is covered in logos from many of the shows that were taped there: Hey Dude, Roundhouse, Don't Just Sit There, etc.
I grew up watching You Can't Do That on Television, Out of Control, Pinwheel, Today's Special, Turkey TV, Livewire, Mr. Wizard, and the Tomorrow People.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my experience. What were your favorite Nick shows?

Thanks for posting. None of my friends remember Welcome Freshman when I mention it. Brooke was such a b! I forgot all about out of control! Man, such good memories. Thanks again.

That's pretty awesome :) We went in '94 and at the time nothing was being filmed there. At least not on that day. Some of the shows may have even stopped production at that point, i'm not sure. I know that as we waited inline they had Rocko's Modern Life playing on tvs above our heads. So I was disappointed when we went on the tour that we didn't see any stars or anything like that. I remember doing the game thing as well or at least they had the parents sit in one set of bleacher like seats and the kids sit on the other side and they passed the adult in the front row of the adult section and the kid in the front row of the kid section an object and the point of the game was to see who could get it passed all the way to the last person in the seating area and then back to the first person who received it first, the kids or the parents.

That's cool that you were an extra, it is just too bad you never got to go back and experience more of the studios. I loved Welcome Freshmen when it was on, although now I can barley remember any of it.

Regardless of content, anyone who takes the time to put up actual pictures from their childhood gets a thumbs up from me.

Thank you! FWIW: I was taken to the enormous room stuffed with clothes and props. In my high school back home, we wore "proper" P.E. uniforms that said Rockford Phys Ed. http://www.flickr.com/ bluwmongoose is my photo stream where you can see one of those uniforms on one of my mannequins!
The P.E. outfit Nick Studios dressed me in was more like a plain white t-shirt and shorts (like the kind you might have to wear if your actual uniform was being washed).
The actual process of being an extra lasted a few hours at least...a lot of standing around, and several takes where we had to "talk" soundlessly to our classmates while the stars said their lines.
I should add though that I did see the green slime geyser in all its working glory =)
    Score:
