Top 10 SEGA Genesis Games

A great article about the top 10 games for the SEGA Genesis

It's no secret that I enjoy playing SEGA Genesis games, so for this article, I decided to countdown my picks for the top 10 best games the Genesis had to offer. Let's get started.

#10: Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind
When it comes platforming, Bubsy just doesn't cut it. I mean seriously, Bubsy was just an attempt to out-match Sonic the Hedgehog. Bottom line Bubsy is not a good game in its own standards.

#9: Disney's Aladdin
Based upon Disney's 1992 hit film "Aladdin", the game is just your average movie based title that stays true to the movie that it's based on and yes Aladdin is a pretty tough game on the Genesis.

#8: Sparkster
Although "Sparkster" is the sequel to "Rocket Knight Adventures", I just think that maybe the "Rocket Knight" series had some intense edge to it but seriously this game is good not to mention different from its SNES counterpart

#7: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
Who's bright idea was to give Michael Jackson his own video game? Well, I don't know the answer to that question but "Michael Jackson's Moonwalker" is worth picking up if you're a fan of Michael Jackson.

#6: Sonic the Hedgehog
Of all the incredible masterpieces on the Genesis, Sonic was one of them. Sonic 1 was a very good but sometimes very tricky game, and the game proves its difficulty in the marble zone.

#5: Rocket Knight Adventures
Easily described as one of the coolest games of the 16-bit era, "Rocket Knight Adventures" was pretty much a very cool game with really good graphics, well not good compared to the graphics on the XBOX 360 but still, "Rocket Knight Adventures" is way better than its sequel, "Sparkster".

#4: Disney's Toy Story
Based on Disney's 1995 smash hit, Toy Story had everything: solid controls, an awesome soundtrack, and animation that was in fact done by PIXAR. Toy Story is without a doubt the perfect game for the #4 spot on my list.

#3: Animaniacs
What happens when you take a cool 1990's cartoon and turn it into a video game? You get a 2D platformer that becomes quite the thrill and adventure as you control Yakko, Wakko, & Dot through a wide range of levels.

#2: Disney's The Lion King
I never thought I would put this game on the list because it's actually not a bad game by today's standards, I mean sure the game was hard in some parts but that's what made the game fun was its challenging levels and boss fights. Not to mention that "The Lion King" was the highest grossing animated film in history until 2003 when "Finding Nemo" took the crown.

#1 Mortal Kombat
While it's no Super Smash Bros., Mortal Kombat was a fun and very hard fighting game but once you get used to it you'll be playing this game so much that your spine might fall out.

THAT's ALL FOLKS!!!!!!

You lose your gamer cred for putting Moonwalker on this list. Haha. That game was God awful.....

Again, too many pictures, not enough words.

Once again, we plod along the "Top Ten" path that is littered with the skeletal remains of amateur article writers. Unless you are giving us a ton of personal insight, no one is going to enjoy reading a hastily assembled list that offers nothing new.

In this case, especially, you shoot yourself in your own foot by bad-mouthing your own selections. If these are the best games in your view (a fact that you fail to make clear at any point in the article), why do you say that they aren't great?

Your homework: Read a bunch of articles here on the back page to see how people fail miserably. Then, read a bunch of the top rated articles on the site to see how you can do better.

^I must agree on you RetroJerk...if you have a sucky game on a Top-10, then ...why have it?!

I watched a GT Countdown where they said "Ecco the Dolphin" was an undeappreciative franchise...but then they reconsidered and had a Top-9 rather than 10. (They had a Top-11 because one game was a tie).

Top best in your views? You said yourself that bubsy sucks! That makes no sense.

I mean top best in my views

Top-10 Genesis Games. Okay...that you like? Best Selling? I'm confused.

I played a couple of these games and they weren't the best (Animaniacs, Aladdin, Toy Story).

Look at the Pizza Hut Article for making an article.

    1. Try to shrink your pics from now on., 2. Add more info. 3. don't dis a selection that you consider a favorite. 4. Why is Sonic only at number six?! (#1 fan of the series) and 5. Where are Toe Jam & Earl, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage?! I'm not going to rate your article because this is the first time I've seen a negative one so I feel kind of bad for you. Just try to make it a little juicier from now on and use smaller pics. :/

could you at least describe why these games are on your list? are they fun? are they challenging? it certainly seems like a missed opportunity for this article

Not a great article. Try more detail with each game you are talking about. And when you have a top ten favorite article, don't bash what you are considering your favorite.

92DreamMaster, so an article can be completely horrible, but as long as you remember what's being written about you give it the thumbs up?
    92DreamMaster Posted 1 year 9 months ago
The only reason why I decided to be nice is because I remember most of these. I also almost always shyed away from movie based games so how was the gameplay for Toy Story, Aladdin, and Lion King???
    Otown407Soldier Posted 1 year 9 months ago
Why did you bash your #10 selection?
    GrouchMan21 Posted 1 month 11 days ago
    Because it sucks ass

Huge pics and very few words about what you consider the Top 10 Sega Games. Try writing more about them. Include favorite levels, favorite characters, most difficult levels, etc...
chokeslam Posted 1 year 9 months ago
Is this an article or a photo album? The pics are nice but it needs a little more substance. Actually, make that A LOT more substance.

Various random items under a vague theme? Check. Small one or two sentence blurbs with little to no information about each item? Check. Absolutely no personal insight whatsoever? Check. Congratulations you've mastered the generic list article formula!
