WWF NOT WWE PART 2!!

Part 2 to my look into the past and my love of the sport known as professional wrestling

Quick Recap of Part 1... I learn about WWF from a neighborhood friend who introdueces me to the sport. I Immediately become and UNdertaker fan... I go through a tough time and lose intrest... In 1997 I regain intrest in the sport and take on a new favorite Stone Cold Steve Austin. I attend my first WWF show in the summer of 1998...

So by now I have learned everything that I possibly can about Steve Austin... I get a chance to look at some early photo's of the "Rattlesnake"...

Not his best look but you know what they say don't judge a book by its cover. That's exactley what WCW and Eric Bischoff did. Stone Cold went on to headline nearly every PPV that year continuously battling the Undertaker.

Keeping most of my focus on the Steve I didn't pay alot of attention to the other guys except one guy... The Rock! Now as much as I hated this guy I liked him... I must admit he had some pretty clever catchphrases and comebacks... He even got a few over on Old Stone Cold over the years becoming just as big a star as the Rattlesnake and the Dead Man.

The year is 1999... The battle between Steve Austin and the Vince McMahon takes center stage once again just in time for the Royal Rumble

This match ends with a distacted Stone Cold being tossed over the top rope by none other than Mr. McMahon. McMahon now is the number on contender for Wrestlemania 15.

Stone Cold goes on battle McMahon for his number one contender spot at Mania also allowing the Debut of a dominant force...

During this time a very popular and dominant faction was forseeing its inevitable demise... To Be Continued...

Just for kicks I thought I would show some pics of my own collection of memorabillia in cluding and Autographed
Wrestlemania 23 picture Autographed by Stone Cold, The Undertaker and the Late Umaga. Also my prized possesion my very on Smoking Skull Belt...

I still watch every monday with my uncle religiously...just waiting, hoping for a miracle that it will change again. However, what made it so great when you think about it, it's when you were hooked into it. Does John Cena suck? You bet your ass he does, but to some kid out there, he is their version of Stone Cold.

in Response to TownParkRadio... OK since I have followed Austin and researched him as much as I have I find it very hard to believe that your Statements are true. Just because the WWE doesn't cater to your needs of violent, bleeding, cursing, and beer drinking anymore (those were my needs too but this is a different day) Doesn't mean that they have slid... As much as people hate Cena... He is the one carrying the company now. Since my son is a wrestling fan I am actually glad that they have changed thier style to a more family friendly product. When I was watching Austin I was in my teens but my son he is 7 and he doesn't need to see that... It is a better product for the kids... If you need you violent fix of the wheel chair wrestlers then I suggest you switch over to TNA on Spike. I don't watch WWE like I used to and yes it has lost my intrest quite a bit, but when you have kids of your own you see the brighter side of it and that is that for once a company is selling to kids and attracting them like they used to back in the Hogan and Warrior days and for that I am glad and kids actually have a little something to look forward to my only suggestion is if they plan on it being for kids they should get a better time slot on Monday's because kids have school the next day but I guess thats whats DVR is for even though it isn't the same feeling as watching live and seeing it at the exact sametime everyone else does

Do you know why Austin got bumped down to midcard? For years before it happened, knocknees refused to sell anything unless you really hit him, and if you did, he cried contract breach and YOU got penalized. Austin lost his push when the guys stopped putting up with it. He swore he'd change for the good of the company, he never did, and even started drinking too heavily and beating his wife. This is why he got buried.

He did it to himself. He was a horrible worker, and he started to live his gimmick, believe his own hype. Did 3:16 turn the WWF Attitude Era into high gear? Absolutely. You know what though? Watch his matches. They're garbage. As Stunning Steve Austin he TRIED. When he got the Stone cold gimmick, the only person who could drag a decent performance out of him was Mick Foley... and eventually even Foley stopped trying to.

Stone cold helped revitalize the WWF.. and then he almost singlehandedly struck it to lower heights than it had ever been before. The boring product you see now? It's his fault. He killed all "characters" and left us only with rebellion and "attitude". And the boys in the back are sick to death of it. See The Undertaker? Even HE is just going through the motions now. There's no heart in it. There's no stories anymore, it's all about who can be the most smug. Someone like John Cena should have been a jobber.

Good job, guys! No more heroes... and due to that.. no more variety, no more fun.

WWF has slid since 2002. We the fan's wanted Austin and were not that into Triple H return, but instead we got him main eventing a Wrestlemania that no once cared to see hm in, and saw Austin bumped down to Mid-carder status????

Made jumping to the UFC all the easier.

I also miss the WWF. Me and friend would rent the games for Sega and for whatever console we had and play for hours. I too was an Undertaker fan, man when he first came out he was completely menacing with the stare and no talk attitude. Man those were the good ol' days watching it every Saturday with cereal and not caring about the realism of the sport.

Yea I'd agree with everything else said. The pictures were very blurry. There was a lot of potential with this topic. The company has seen so much change over the years, and there is a lot to talk about. The days of Good Guy Vs. Bad Guy, love the good guy, hate the bad guy all changed with Austin. No one likes their boss and it was great to see one get his ass kicked weekly by an angry employee. That was what made Austin appealing.

I think it would have really been great if you have talked a little more about the PPV's. Maybe you could have given it a little more of a commentary and told us about how you felt watching it. I would have 10 people over my house every year for a Wrestlemania party. If you and your friends were into it and ever did anything like that, you could have told us about those times. You could have also talked about the change in censorship, content, and even the changes in the Jakks toy line.

Not trying to bust your chops, but I'm only making suggestions.

now that I re-read I must agree with Retro Jerk it could have been longer. I guess it took me so long gathering photos for the arcticle that I didn't realize how short it wasuntil I had submitted it. Anyway Part3 is the last and will be longer too it will top off my arcticle quite well I hope

Not much of an article here but rather a collection of blurry pictures of memorabilia sprinkled with a few words.
