Shows from the Past

Does anyone want to see the old shows on again?

I too, like most of you, love this website!!! Although what I don’t love is all the TV shows that are on nowadays…

Like the stupid shows that are constantly on these days, and I am wondering who here on this website don’t like what they see on the TV?

How many of you are tired of seeing the newer shows that are on these days: like the SpongBob SqaurePants, Being Ian, Captain Flamingo, Cat scratch, Yvonne of the Yukon, and all the other shows that have bad animations or stupid characters.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to insult all of these shows I’m just missing the good old days when I was a kid. I mean my sister didn’t even get a chance to see these shows they had cancelled all of these before she was even around, or when she was very young, and can't remember any of these anymore.

Shows like these:
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers
Duck Tales
Garfield and Friends
Inspector Gadget
Legend of Zelda
Megaman
Super Mario Brothers
* Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Captain Planet
and all the other good old shows…

Man Captain Planet had to be the best Morning Cartoon I will ever remember seeing, all about saving the world in good ways and all... I was even surprised when I saw an old episode of Captain Planet on a regular Saturday morning when all the nonsense shows were supposed to be on, I went crazy because it had been almost forever since I had seen a good TV Show on.
I like the newest version of TMNT but I liked the original series better don’t know about you folks but I can also get some opinions off of you guys as well.
I am wondering who else is missing all the old shows from the past? And I want to know how to get this message around to all the big companies and to bring back these shows that we all enjoyed back then. Heck, I even remember watching Robotech on the TV, on the best Saturday Mornings of my life. Now I’m looking for the Robotech DVD sets anywhere I can find them.

I even remember the video games of this time era:
* Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Brothers
Mega Man
Tetris
Sonic the Hedgehog
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I like all the Zelda games that they will ever make I just liked the original one the best and I disliked the second game Links Adventure.
Man the original Mega Man games were the best... Especially games 2 and 3. Heck you might have even seen me playing a bit of Chrono Trigger in the past. (Thank God for whoever invented the Emulator)
And as for Mario Brothers... He's gone a long ways... but what about his brother Luigi?
You only really get to see him in the Mario Party or the sporting games these days why not bring him into the really important games. I still like the mario games though... I just miss younger brother Luigi...

I would also like to point out that some of the newer shows that also got cancelled should also be brought back like:
Witch Hunter Robin – Start the next season
Gundam Seed – Start Gundam Destiny, a.k.a the next season
Reboot – Bring back Megabyte.
Beast Machines – Show what happens after Cybertron is back to normal.

But anyways, I want to know if there is any way to tell the big companies to bring back the old shows that we have access to on this website.

Thanks for reading and I hope that this will actually make a change in the way our TV Shows and video games are turning out to be.

Cartoons today suck, and that fact has nothing to do with a generation gap. Cartoons now celebrate dumb humor. The comedy in 80's shows was clever and witty. The comedy in today’s shows is all about buffoonery and mindless stupidity.

How do crappy articles like this get past zero points? I had my share of "TV sucks now" articles to last me a lifetime.

Rather than whine and complain about the new shows, why not try and give some of them a chance? I mostly watch adult modern cartoons, but I'm not bashing the kids shows because they aren't for me and that I'm out of the target audience of these shows.
    mlw1984 Posted 5 years 5 months ago
"You realize that the current generation of children will grow up to make the same claims about cartoons they're watching now, right?"

Exactly, sir! I think that there is definitely a generation gap when it comes to TV shows. Every generation thinks their shows are better than the current generation and tend to bash the new shows because they are nothing like what they grew up with. I'm tired of it.

This article is nothing more than "cartoons suck now!".

screw Gundam SEED and destiny. they're just bastardizations of the old shows. they need to replay Gundam 0079. when 9/11 happened they pulled it. i think they may have played it again on thier late toonami block, but im not sure if they finished it there either.
then they need to play Zeta. Double Zeta. and then Char's Counter Attack. from there i really don't care. they played most of the other UC shows. 08th ms team, 0080, and what not. i guess they did them because they're a bit newer and the animation is nicer. but most of them happen around the main story of the older shows.

    Yes, Captain Planet does suck.
anthonydegrego Posted 6 years 3 months ago
well, captain planet sucked but, hey, id rather see them on t.v. though
    haylie1 Posted 6 years 3 months ago
i would like to see the original strawberry shortcake on dvd. The new one just doesn't cut it for me.
    ducktalesfan1977 Posted 6 years 4 months ago
And if you want to find old cartoons go to Target, Best Buy, any place but Wal-Mart because they only have newer DVDs.
    ducktalesfan1977 Posted 6 years 4 months ago
Dude, you need to go to the store more often and I don't mean Wal-Mart. They have plenties of old cartoons on DVD, you're just not looking.
jammotron Posted 6 years 5 months ago
If i do this right i can get this stated sometime in the fall 2007,i'm gonna do my very best ladies and gentlemen, wish me luck.
jammotron Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Most time i feel that the only way that you can see these classic cartoons on t.v.is to do it yourself.Imagine if me and retro junk were a team to put these shows back in effect it would be a new home for t.v. and paradise for everbody to see.
jammotron Posted 6 years 5 months ago
From the classic cartoons of the 60's to the 90's.Put it all in one channel.I'ts gonna happen;Indeed it is.
jammotron Posted 6 years 5 months ago
That channel will come true one day;Even if i have to broadcast it myself:It will be very intresting to create a great expierience for the entertainment world.Bringing the true classics back to it's new home in t.v.One day it's gonna happen very soon.
jbdbackfan Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Captain Planet was sweet, but I think the best solution would be is if they just made a channel on tv with all the 90s greats.
Dr. Shrinker Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I never dug Captain Planet myself but it might have been interesting to watch had Tom Cruise did the voice of CP as was originally planned.
Knites Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Sorry, It was Ma-ti, Not Kwami that had the heart power. See, he was so unimportant I even got his name wrong. heh.
Knites Posted 6 years 5 months ago
The romantic tension between Linka and Wheeler was pretty good. But the kid, Kwami, who got the heart power, boy, did he get hosed. What a crappy power. I'm surprised he didn't turn his heart power on his friends make them pity him and give him their way cool power rings. Yeah, by Kwami's powers combined I am Captain Planet! Heh. And for the record, Dr. Blight was a cool Villain.
    Phantasmagoria_3D Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I didn't like Captain Planet that much as a kid. It was just boring. And what's with those stupid villains that keep coming back? Why doesn't Captain Planet just blow them up or something?
bbeastieboy Posted 6 years 5 months ago
We all know Captain Planet and The legend of Zelda were good cartoons, give us something more to read you idiot.
TheOutlaw Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Dude, Captain Planet was the worst.
ladyellie Posted 6 years 5 months ago
The Super Mario and Legend of Zelda cartoons should definitely make a comeback! Ah, how I miss the days of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show...
    starcutter20 Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I hate the old ninja turtles, holy crap I'll never understand to take a dark premise that was set by the indie comic and throw it away. At least the first movie was a very accurate adaptation.

    starcutter20 Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Sonic Satam was the only good sonic show... to bad underground was terrible. Wish they would just adapt the archie comics version or get the original writers to remake the original since the old episodes hardly stand on their own.
    starcutter20 Posted 6 years 5 months ago
They used to show captin planet at 5:30am. I managedto record Tears of The Hood, hilarious episode including the bad plot points and below average animation that is full of errors. Me and my friends couldn't stop laughing.
swift heart Posted 6 years 5 months ago
mushergirl- if they make a channle like that it would be one of the only channles i need

knuclear200x being ian is a lame boring crapy show that dosent build up to anything and yvonne of the yukon is just one poop and fart joke after another and there not even good jokes its all just crapy shows and captain flamingo is the gay 7year old batman wannabe look up www.ytv.com if you want to get a feel of those shows and how sad it is for those poor kids who think shows like that are funny or good
dalmatianlover Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I've never seen the Legend of Zelda series. I didn't even know it even existed!
Fandom Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I vouche for older TNMT than the new one. Same goes with GI Joe. I liked Bill and Ted Excellent Adventures and ProStars as well.
warriorman Posted 6 years 5 months ago
At least on the bright side of things, Inspector Gadget is shown on YTV still here in Canada, Also The Flintstones and Jetsons can be seen on sunday nights on Teletoon.

Just yesterday I bought the box set of The Super Mario Brothers Super Show (Every episode ever made and it also has the Live Action Segments in it too) and I bet I will never get tired of watching it. I'm also looking around for the box set of The Legend of Zelda the cartoon shown on Friday's instead of a Mario Cartoon, Does anyone know where I could find that one?
    animaniac318 Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Some of these shows are still shown today on and off. They were showing Garfield & Friends just a couple of weeks ago on Boomerang, Megaman shows on Gametap but only 2 episodes. Super Mario Bros. and Zelda used to show on Yahooligans, but they don't show it anymore. I'm sure after a couple years they'll show some of these old shows again.

You realize that the current generation of children will grow up to make the same claims about cartoons they're watching now, right?
andrewrae Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I guess I can safely say it: The entertainment industry has entered a dark age, and it doesn't even show any signs of passing. Schvine sell-outs.
    ducktalesfan1977 Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I'm a child of the 80s and I grew up on mostly cartoons from the 80s and before. Now there were some good cartoons in the 90s (I'm talking mostly from the early 90s) but the bad outnumbers the good. I'm not a fan of modern animation at all I won't comment on it. I agree with Knives. Cartoons became less about the plot and more about the senseless things. And the funny thing is my kids like the old cartoons more than the new ones. They watch the DVDs of all of the old shows (cartoons, sitcoms and dramas) I brought (so far) and they really love them. I feel TV in general is going downhill but oh, well. We have DVDs.
Celeste Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Yu-Gi-Oh isn't too bad but I can't help but shudder at the thought of any kid watching Sponge Bob Square Pants. (UGH!) How the idea for that show ever got past any and all network censors I have no idea but that show is barely watchable. My aunt says that cartoon shows nowadays are all about being mean and vicious. I miss the days of old Hanna-Barbera cartoons. The Smurfs,Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Huckleberry Hound.
Now cartoons in general are barely watchable, and not even half-way decent.
swift heart Posted 6 years 5 months ago
i feel the new shows are a insult to cartoons as a whole its been downhill since mid 90s and if you look hard at those shows you can noties none of them have a badguy there just acts of stupidity it feels like a cartoon mirrror of seinfeld even care bears were smarter then this at lest they always had a badguy in there cartoons
    Shironu_Akaineko Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Yvon of the Yukon, not Yvonne. (Bad mental image here)
And I enjoy Being Ian's intro song. Not the show tho.
I noticed kid's shows today are either painfully educative, or sickingly gross and stupid--without the fun factor of Ren and Stimpy, mind you-- and don't get me started on the "Monster/hero is the sidekick of a 10 years old kid" brand of cartoons we're drowning in. Sonic and Megaman even fell in it, god bless their souls.
As for me, being French canadian, my TV shows included anime from the 60's and 70's, and Bugs Bunny. I'm sorry, but Captain Harlock and Giant Robo Grandizer beat your 4Kids Yu-Gi-Oh and Gundam SD.

Yu-Gi-Oh with cards was okay and actually original, but now he can fuse with characters from his deck. Why hallo thar, digivolution...

People used to DIE in my cartoons. Now they just "fall asleep and left forever."

I should make an article on how people fudge up old cartoons to please the parents ofthis generation of kids.
Knites Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I remember cartoons started to go down hill around the time Ren and Stimpy and Disney's Bonkers made their way onto TV. It's like, goodbye plot, hello stupid. Sure, shows like Batman the Animated series and the other shows of the Timm-Verse tried to clean things up. Later there was a short revival of He-Man in 2002, but the magic just doesn't seem to be there anymore.
divinebovine Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I wish they would bring back reboot. I remember my whole family would stop hat they were doing and sit on the couch for this. The good old days...
    fragglerocker1020 Posted 6 years 5 months ago
old school rules...I loved all thsoe shows you named...
SenTora Posted 6 years 5 months ago
Truth be told, I never liked Captain Planet. As a kid that grew up with the late 70s & 80s cartoons, I thought that the show was a waste.... and way to damned preachy. But that's just me....
    LivinLegend85 Posted 6 years 5 months ago
I agree with you 100 percent.
These shows fairy oddparents and crap are so annoying and their animations are garbage...they have no plot or moral..everything is a joke...i miss the good old days too..i never thought i would say that at my age (21).
