Hello everyone! Normally, I would make articles that are pretty much Nintendo related but this time it will be different. This time, I will be talking about my most favorite cartoons that were made in the 80's and the 90's. This may be my 12th article but when it comes to cartoons, this would be my very first article related to cartoons. The cartoons mentioned in this article are in no particular order. I will now start off with one of my favorite eras and that would be...

1980's

I may not have been born in this era but I came close to it considering I was born in 1990. I pretty much like the 80's for its cartoons, movies, video games, and music. Anyways, here are my favorite cartoons that were made in the 80's.

Heathcliff

Heathcliff debuted in the year of 1984 and ended in 1987. Heathcliff may sometimes be mistaken from Garfield, another famous cat that is similar to Heathcliff. Heathcliff is very well known to pull tricks and pranks on everyone in the whole neighborhood, especially Spike the bulldog. Heathcliff may be a troublemaker but he also has a very kind heart, especially for his girlfriend, Sonja. But let's not forget about the Catillac Cats, the cats who live with a Cadillac in a junkyard. The Catillac Cats are known as Wordsworth, Hector, Mungo, Riff Raff, and Cleo. Overall, I think it is a great cartoon with a lot of good humor to it. The voice actors of the show are known as Mel Blanc (voice of Heathcliff), Jeannie Elias (voice of Willie and Marcy), Ted Zeigler (voice of Grandpa, Leroy, and Mungo), Donna Christie (voice of Cleo and Iggy), Peter Cullen (voice for other characters), Marilyn Lightstone (voice of Sonja and Grandma), Stan Jones (voice of the Milkman, Riff Raff, and Wordsworth), Derek McGrath (voice of Spike, Knuckles, and Muggsy), Danny Mann (voice of the Fish Market Proprietor and Hector), and Danny Wells (voice of Bush and Raul).

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! started in 1989 and ended in that same year with an overall total of 65 episodes. The setting for Mario and Luigi took place in Brooklyn, New York while the setting for Princess Toadstool and Toad took place in the Mushroom Kingdom. What Mario and Luigi didn't know was that the bathtub that they were trying to fix would take them to the Mushroom Kingdom and they accidentally got sucked down the drain of the bathtub. They eventually ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom where they met Princess Toadstool, Toad, King Koopa, and King Koopa's army. The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! was originally based off of two games: Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2. Funny as it sounds, Wart from the Super Mario Bros. 2 game was never in the show even though some of his army made some appearances in the show. The show originally ran with two live action episodes and one animated episode. In the live action episodes, Lou Albano played as Mario and Danny Wells played as Luigi. There were also guest stars in the live action episodes and Vanna White from the Wheel Of Fortune game show was one of the guest stars in the show. Now that I think about it, Danny Wells was in both the Heathcliff cartoon and The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! cartoon.

Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers

Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers was created the same year as The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! which was in 1989 and the last episode was shown in 1990. The five heroes of the show are known as Chip, Dale, Zipper, Monterey Jack, and Gadget Hackwrench. Chip is the leader and he is very well known for being very serious about his missions and responsibilities. Dale is well known to being addicted to candy, especially chocolate. Zipper is a housefly and has been a friend to Monterey Jack for a long time. Monterey Jack (also known as Monty) is a mouse who loves to go on adventures and he has also traveled all over the world. Last but not least, Gadget Hackwrench is also a mouse who invents many things and she is also a mechanic. Now let's talk about the villains of the show. One of the Rescue Ranger's worst enemies is known as Fat Cat. Fat Cat has four henchmen and they are known as Mepps, Mole, Wart, and Snout. Professor Norton Nimnul is another one of the Rescue Ranger's worst enemies. There are these two Siamese cats known as The Siamese Twin Gang that are also enemies but they are not one of the Rescue Ranger's worst enemies.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started their tv series back in 1987. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles originally started out as a comic book series. The story starts when Splinter found four little turtles covered in ooze while going through the sewers and Splinter decides to train the young turtles to become ninjas. The turtles are known as Leonardo (my favorite turtle), Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael. Leonardo is the leader of the teenage mutant ninja turtles and and he is also very close to Master Splinter. Donatello is a scientist of the teenage mutant ninja turtles and makes random inventions. Michaelangelo is a very relaxed turtle of the teenage mutant ninja turtles and he is very well known for saying "cowabunga!". Raphael is the funny turtle of the teenage mutant ninja turtles. There are more popular characters that starred in the show and they are known as April O'Neil, Splinter, Krang, Rocksteady, Bebop, and Shredder. April O'Neil is a tv reporter and a friend to the teenage mutant ninja turtles. Splinter would be the teenage mutant ninja turtles' master. Krang is a weird looking brain who comes up with most of the evil ideas for Shredder. Rocksteady is a rhinoceros and he one of Shredder's retarded henchmen. Bebop is a warthog who is also one of Shredder's retarded henchmen. Splinter is the antagonist of the show and is a arch-villain to the teenage mutant ninja turtles.

That's about it for my most favorite cartoons of the 80's. I will now start off with my most favorite cartoons from the era that I grew up in and that would be...

1990's

I was born in 1990 so I obviously grew up in the 90's. I also had a good childhood growing up in the 90's. I enjoyed many things in the 90's such as watching cartoons, playing Nintendo and Sega, playing with my Beanie Baby collection, playing with my Tamagotchis, and many more that I can't think of while writing this article. LOL! Anyways, here are some of my favorite cartoons from the 90's that I grew up watching in my childhood.

Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog

Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog was made back in 1993 and the cartoon series ran for only one season. The main plot of the cartoon is about two best friends, Sonic and Tails, trying to defeat Dr. Robotnik from his evil plans to take over the planet of Mobius. Dr. Robotnik has many robots to defeat Sonic and Tails but there are two robots of his that are well known to this show and they are known as Grounder and Scratch (there is another well known robot in the show and he is known as Coconuts but he is not in the show as much as Grounder and Scratch). They both may be a bunch of idiots but Scratch is just a bit smarter than Grounder. During their free time, Sonic and Tails likes to eat chili dogs. At the end of each episode, there is a segment that is known as "Sonic Sez" (or "Sonic Says" if you wanted it spelled correctly). "Sonic Sez" was basically about Sonic giving some very important advice to the viewers (the topics that I remember the best were about staying in school and wearing your seatbelt).

Ed Edd 'n' Eddy

Ed Edd 'n' Eddy debuted on Cartoon Network back in 1999. Ed Edd 'n' Eddy is also the longest running series on Cartoon Network. The setting usually occurs at a suburban cul-de-sac. The main characters of the show are obviously Ed, Edd, and Eddy. For their personalities, Ed is extremely stupid, Edd is really smart, and Eddy is very greedy. Mainly Ed, Edd, and Eddy (also known as "The Eds") will come up with a scam to basically rip off everyone else's money so they can get their favorite treat which would be these huge jawbreakers. If I recall correctly, there may have been only one episode that I know of where they actually got jawbreakers but the rest of the episodes I don't believe they even got one jawbreaker (poor Eds). The other characters of the show are known as Jonny and his imaginary friend Plank, Rolf, Kevin, Jimmy, Sarah, Nazz, and the three Kanker Sisters. Jonny and his friend Plank (also known as "Jonny 2x4") are usually known to be a little annoying around everyone else. Rolf is an immigrant that works on a farm and he is also the leader of the "Urban Rangers". Kevin is very well known for hating the Eds (mostly Eddy) and he mostly calls them dorks. Jimmy is a young boy who loves to play with dolls and he also loves fashion. Sarah is a friend to Jimmy and she is the youngest sister to Ed. Nazz usually likes to hang out with Kevin and her attration usually draws most of the boys to her. The Kanker Sisters (May, Marie, and Lee) hates all of the kids in the cul-de-sac but they are in love with Ed, Edd, and Eddy. There is actually one character who never made an appearance in the show but he is only mentioned by Eddy and that would be Eddy's older brother.

Johnny Bravo

Johnny Bravo debuted on Cartoon Network in 1997, two years before Ed Edd 'n' Eddy first debuted. Johnny Bravo ran for 4 seasons with a total of 67 episodes. Johnny Bravo (also known as Jonathan) is the main character of the show and he is mostly let down by who knows how many women. He has a voice similar to Elvis Presley and he also has a very funny personality. Carl Chryniszzswics (also known as Carlton) is a geek who wants to be friends with Johnny Bravo even though Johnny Bravo hates him. Master Hamma is Johnny Bravo's martial arts teacher. Ting is a girl who knows how to do karate. Pops owns a chili restaurant and usually gives advice to Johnny Bravo. Bunny Bravo (also known as "Momma" to Johnny Bravo) would be Johnny Bravo's mother. Suzy is a 5 year old girl who is usually called "Little Neighbor girl" by Johnny Bravo. Jungle Boy is a little boy who lived in a jungle and he also talked to animals while being in the jungle. Lonnie Dash is a singer who Suzy highly admires. Last but not least (I saved the best for last), Donny Osmond is a singer who is very optimistic and cheerful.

The Angry Beavers

The Angry Beavers started in the same year as Johnny Bravo which would be 1997. The show is about these two brothers named Norbert Beaver and Daggett Beaver who are usually very angry about something. Daggett Beaver (also known as "Dagg") is Norbert"s hyper younger brother. Norbert Beaver (also known as "Norb") is the oldest beaver and he is also the most laid back beaver, he can sometimes be very sarcastic. Other characters of the show include Bing, "Mum", "Dad", Barry Bear, Oxnard Montalvo, Treeflower, El Grapadura, Stump, Chelsea, Stacy, Pete, Scientist #1, Toluca Lake, Truckee, and Bill Licking. Bing is a very annoying lizard who likes to be around Daggett and Norbert. "Mum" is the mother of Daggett and Norbert. "Dad" is the father of Daggett and Norbert. Barry Bear is a good friend to Daggett and Norbert and also has a huge fear of clowns. Oxnard Montalvo is a B-movie actor who Daggett and Norbert really like. Treeflower is a beaver who is madly in love with Norbert. El Grapadura is a lucha libre wrestler who has two huge fans of him which would be none other than Daggett and Norbert. Stump is just a plain tree stump who Norbert really likes. Chelsea is a younger sister to Daggett and Norbert. Stacy is also another younger sister to Daggett and Norbert. Pete is a scientist who likes to call Daggett and Norbert "pointy weasels". Scientist #1 is a partner to Pete and also calls the beavers "pointy weasels". Toluca Lake is also a B-movie actor who Daggett and Norbert really like. Truckee is a shrew who likes trucks and hates Daggett with a passion. Bill Licking is a tv show presenter and a salesman.

Well, that's about it for my most favorite cartoons from the 80's and 90's. Thank you for reading my article and I hope that you enjoyed it!
